Job Description:
A Production Engineer oversees and optimizes manufacturing processes, bridging the gap between product design and assembly. They are tasked with maximizing production efficiency, minimizing costs, resolving equipment bottlenecks, and ensuring strict adherence to quality and safety standards on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Process Optimization: Analyze manufacturing workflows and utilize methodologies like Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing to eliminate waste, reduce costs, and improve output.
- Production Oversight: Plan daily or shift-wise schedules, manage resource allocation, and monitor performance metrics to hit delivery targets.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose issues on the production line, repair faulty machinery, and schedule preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Quality Control: Establish quality benchmarks, inspect final components, and ensure all products comply with industry standards and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Safety & Compliance: Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), enforce strict safety protocols (e.g., OSHA, local labor laws), and investigate any workplace hazards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with design, procurement, and quality assurance teams to introduce new products and streamline supply chains.
- Team Leadership: Supervise shift workers, hire/train production line staff, and delegate technical duties appropriately.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Chemical Engineering.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Statistical Process Control (SPC), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical capabilities, strategic problem-solving, exceptional communication for cross-departmental coordination, and robust team leadership.
