Job Description:
A Process Manager/Asst. Manager for Sponge Iron Division (SID) oversees daily direct reduced iron (DRI) production . They optimize kiln parameters, manage raw materials, and ensure safety standards to achieve quality targets, making them vital to plant efficiency and cost reduction . [1]
This comprehensive role blends heavy manufacturing operations, process control, and team leadership. [1, 2]
Core Responsibilities
- Production & Process Control: Directly manage DRI kiln, cooler, and coal injection operations, optimizing parameters (temperature, speed) for maximum yield and quality. [1]
- Troubleshooting: Address process issues, such as ring formation and temperature fluctuations. [1]
- Resource & Efficiency Management: Oversee raw material consumption, minimize waste, and optimize Waste Heat Recovery Boiler (WHRB) usage. [1]
- Data Analysis: Use KPIs to track and improve process performance. [1]
- Maintenance & Safety: Coordinate shutdowns for repairs and ensure strict adherence to safety protocols. [1, 2]
Typical Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering.
- Experience: 10+ years in sponge iron or process manufacturing, with strong knowledge of furnace management and process optimization.
