Job Description:
A resort captain (often in Food & Beverage) leads the floor team, ensures flawless guest service, and acts as the bridge between guests and kitchen staff. They train staff, manage daily shifts, and resolve complaints. The role requires strong leadership, deep menu knowledge, and excellent communication. [1, 2, 3]
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Service & Experience: Greet and seat guests, ensure their requests are met, and handle any complaints promptly to guarantee satisfaction.
- Team Leadership: Supervise the waitstaff, assign sections, conduct pre-shift briefings, and help train junior servers.
- Floor Management: Monitor dining areas to ensure compliance with hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
- Coordination: Act as the liaison between the service floor, the kitchen, and the bar to keep operations smooth.
- Sales & Upselling: Train staff to upsell daily specials, beverages, and high-margin items to boost revenue. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Hotel Management/Hospitality.
- Experience: 2–4 years of experience in high-volume hospitality, with prior supervisory or team-lead roles.
- Skills: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, problem-solving under pressure, and familiarity with POS/MICROS systems.
