Job Description:
A Senior Hardware & Networking Engineer oversees an organization's IT infrastructure. They are responsible for designing network architecture, configuring core hardware (switches, routers, firewalls), ensuring maximum system uptime, securing data against threats, and mentoring junior engineers. Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Design: Plan, install, and scale Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and VPNs to meet organizational needs.
- Hardware Management: Configure and maintain network devices, servers, CCTV systems, and printers.
- Network Security: Implement firewalls, Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and data backup protocols to protect the infrastructure.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Resolve escalated network issues, outages, and latency problems.
- Monitoring & Upgrades: Continuously monitor bandwidth performance and perform routine hardware/software upgrades.
- Team Leadership: Manage IT teams, delegate daily tasks to junior technicians, and maintain vendor relationships. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Essential Skills
- Deep Hardware Knowledge: Proficiency with switches, routers, cabling, and enterprise CPUs.
- Certifications: Certifications like Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CCNP, CompTIA, or VMware Certified Professional are highly preferred.
- Operating Systems: Advanced understanding of network operating systems (Cisco IOS, JUNOS) and server administration.
