BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER FOR MINERALS PROCESSING PLANT - RAIGARH , CHHATTISGARH
Job Description:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be the primary commercial growth engine of the organisation, responsible for identifying, developing, and converting business opportunities across all product lines. The incumbent will build and manage a robust customer pipeline, forge strategic alliances, negotiate high-value contracts, and collaborate closely with operations, logistics, and finance teams to ensure seamless order fulfilment and sustained revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Business Development
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with the company’s ₹300 Cr+ revenue targets and long-term growth roadmap.
- Identify and evaluate new market segments, geographies, and customer verticals for dolomite, calcined dolomite, ferro alloys, and CPC.
- Lead end-to-end bid management, proposal development, and contract negotiations for large institutional and industrial accounts.
- Build a structured sales pipeline with monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue projections for each product division.
- Client Acquisition & Relationship Management
- Acquire new B2B clients in steel plants, ferro alloy manufacturers, refractory producers, cement plants, aluminium smelters, and power utilities.
- Develop and maintain long-term relationships with key decision-makers – procurement heads, plant managers, and C-suite executives.
- Conduct regular client visits, plant tours, and product demonstrations to reinforce technical credibility and commercial trust.
- Resolve customer complaints and quality concerns with speed and diplomacy, ensuring retention and repeat business.
- Product Line Management – Business Perspective
- Dolomite & Calcined Dolomite: Drive volume sales to steel and refractory sectors; monitor MgO/CaO grade requirements and align supply commitments.
- Ferro Alloys (FeMn, SiMn, FeCr, etc.): Manage trading relationships, spot and contract sales, import/export coordination, and price risk.
- Calcined Petroleum Coke (CPC): Develop accounts in aluminium smelters, graphite electrode and anode manufacturers; manage quantity and sulphur-grade specifications.
- Market Intelligence & Pricing
- Monitor commodity price trends, import parity, and competitive benchmarks across all product lines.
- Prepare market intelligence reports on demand-supply outlook, customer capex plans, and competitive activity for management decision-making.
- Recommend pricing strategies, discount structures, and volume-linked incentive schemes to maximise margin and market share.
- Trade, Export & Strategic Partnerships
- Identify and develop export opportunities for dolomite, calcined dolomite, and ferro alloys in South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Middle East markets.
- Establish trading partnerships, agency agreements, and distribution networks for efficient market penetration.
- Coordinate with CHA (Customs House Agents), freight forwarders, and logistics partners for seamless export documentation and shipment.
- Revenue, Budget & Reporting
- Own revenue targets for each product segment and ensure monthly/quarterly achievement.
- Prepare detailed MIS reports on sales performance, customer-wise revenue, product-wise contribution, and pipeline status.
- Work with finance team on credit assessment, payment terms, and debtor management to ensure healthy working capital.
- Present strategic business reviews, growth plans, and investment proposals to the Board and senior leadership.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Liaise with plant and production teams to align supply schedules, product quality, and delivery timelines with customer commitments.
- Work with procurement on raw material sourcing strategies that affect product costing and pricing competitiveness.
- Coordinate with legal and compliance on contract vetting, statutory clearances, and trade regulations.

- Annual revenue target achievement (segment-wise and aggregate)
- Number of new accounts acquired per quarter
- Order book growth and pipeline conversion ratio
- Customer retention rate and wallet-share improvement
- Debtor days and collections efficiency
- Export volume and new geography penetration
- Product-wise gross margin contribution
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Qualifications
- E. / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or Mining Engineering – Preferred
- MBA in Marketing / International Business – Added Advantage
- Diploma in Metallurgy or related discipline with exceptional sales track record will be considered
Experience Requirements
- 8–15 years of progressive experience in industrial sales and business development
- Mandatory: Prior exposure to any of the following – dolomite, ferro alloys, refractory minerals, CPC, metallurgical coke, or industrial chemicals
- Demonstrated experience in handling B2B accounts with ticket sizes of ₹10 Cr+ per annum
- Exposure to commodity trading, price risk management, and contract structuring
- Experience in export sales and international trade documentation (preferred)
