Job Description:
A Turbine-Generator (TG) Field Operator in a steel company power plant manages the safe, local operation of turbines and generators. Key duties include monitoring field equipment (lube oil, seal oil, cooling systems), performing inspections, executing startup/shutdown procedures, maintaining logs, and ensuring safety through LOTO/PTW procedures.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Field Operations: Perform regular field rounds to monitor turbine and generator parameters like temperature, pressure, and vibration.
- Operational Control: Safely operate equipment, including turbine startup and shutdown, and manage auxiliary systems.
- Coordination: Communicate effectively with the Control Room Engineer to report equipment status and act on instructions.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance such as lubrication, tightening joints, and troubleshooting, as well as handling emergency malfunctions.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate logs and reports regarding equipment performance.
Job Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in power generation, particularly with turbine-generator systems in a steel plant or CPP (Captive Power Plant).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of turbine systems, cooling towers, and hydraulic governing systems.
- Education: Typically requires a technical qualification, such as a diploma or ITI in mechanical or electrical fields.
- Attributes: Ability to work in challenging environments (high temperatures) and work on-call shifts.
