Job Description:
A Deputy CEO - Techno-Commercial for a Ferro Alloys Plant is a senior leadership role that bridges technical manufacturing operations with commercial business strategy. The position requires a seasoned professional to manage the full P&L, optimize production costs, and drive business growth through both technical expertise and strategic procurement/sales.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership & P&L Management: Drive overall plant operations, profitability, and cost optimization, aligning technical operations with business growth strategies.
- Techno-Commercial Optimization: Oversee the "Techno-Commercial Blend" of raw materials, analyzing production efficiency (furnace performance) against procurement costs of ores, coal, and scrap.
- Procurement & Vendor Management: Drive strategic purchasing of bulk materials, Capex, and Opex, negotiating best-price points and managing vendor relationships for long-term supply chain security.
- Operations & Production Management: Ensure smooth operation of submerged arc furnaces, tapping, and quality control of products (e.g., Ferro Chrome, Silico Manganese).
- Cost Control & Efficiency: Implement cost reduction strategies (energy management), improve process efficiencies, and oversee internal/external audits to ensure effective TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
- Marketing & Sales Coordination: Coordinate with sales teams to align production targets with market demand and international dispatch schedules.
Candidate Profile
- Experience: 25+ years in the Ferro Alloys or integrated Steel industry, with substantial experience in a senior leadership role (GM/VP/Plant Head).
- Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; an MBA is often preferred.
- Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of Submerged Arc Furnace operations, raw material blending, and quality standards for Ferroalloys.
- Commercial Acumen: Strong experience in commercial bid evaluation, contract negotiations, raw material sourcing, and inventory management.
- Leadership: Strong team management abilities to lead diverse cross-functional teams (Production, Maintenance, Quality, Marketing).
Common Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reduction in cost per ton of production.
- Furnace availability and efficiency (reducing downtime).
- Inventory accuracy and raw material consumption rates.
- Safety compliance and reduction in LTIs (Lost Time Injuries).
- Achieving sales and profitability targets.
