Job Description:
A Fabrication Production Manager oversees daily shop floor operations, planning, and executing metal fabrication processes to meet deadlines while ensuring high-quality output. They manage teams, optimize production schedules, enforce safety protocols, and control inventory to achieve cost-effective manufacturing. Key roles include minimizing waste, reducing downtime, and improving efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and implement production schedules to ensure timely delivery of orders, coordinating with other departments for material and equipment availability.
- Fabrication Operations Management: Manage all aspects of the steel/metal fabrication process, including cutting, welding, bending, and assembly.
- Quality Control: Establish and maintain SOPs and quality standards to ensure finished products meet or exceed technical specifications, reducing defects and reworks.
- Team Leadership & Safety: Supervise, train, and motivate shop floor personnel while enforcing strict health and safety (OSHA) regulations.
- Process Optimization: Analyze workflows, improve productivity, and reduce production costs and material waste.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure machinery and tools are maintained and repaired promptly to minimize downtime.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Proven experience as a Production Manager or similar role in a metal fabrication or heavy fabrication environment.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of fabrication processes, materials, welding techniques, and industrial equipment.
- Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Tools: Proficiency in ERP systems, production scheduling software, and MS Office.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field preferred
