Job Description:
A driver's job involves safely operating a vehicle to transport people or goods, following all traffic laws and maintaining the vehicle in good condition. Key responsibilities include route planning, loading and unloading, keeping accurate records, and providing good customer service. Drivers must also be adaptable and possess excellent communication and navigational skills.
Key responsibilities
- Driving: Operate a vehicle safely and legally, adhering to all traffic rules.
- Navigation: Plan and follow efficient routes, adapt to changes, and use navigation tools like GPS.
- Vehicle maintenance: Perform regular checks, clean the vehicle, and report maintenance needs to ensure it is in good working order.
- Cargo and passenger handling: Load and unload goods, ensuring they are properly secured and undamaged. Ensure the safety of passengers at all times.
- Record-keeping: Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and payments.
- Communication: Communicate with dispatchers, clients, and passengers, reporting any delays or issues and addressing inquiries professionally.
- Customer service: Provide a professional and courteous experience for passengers and clients, handling concerns and payments as needed.
Required skills and qualifications
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Strong navigational skills and the ability to use navigation systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, depending on the role.
- Physical ability to load and unload items if required.
