Job Description:
A Sr. Fitter or Fitter's job involves assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical components, machinery, or structures by interpreting blueprints, using hand and power tools, and performing cutting, shaping, and welding tasks to ensure proper alignment and functionality. A Senior Fitter typically has more experience, overseeing complex projects, mentoring junior fitters, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Fabrication & Assembly:Cut, shape, and assemble metal components, structural pieces, and machinery parts according to specifications and blueprints.

Installation & Maintenance:Install and secure new equipment, perform routine maintenance checks, and conduct repairs on malfunctioning systems.

Blueprint Interpretation:Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and weld maps to understand project specifications and component requirements.

Tool & Equipment Use:Safely operate a variety of tools, including hand tools (like hammers and rulers), power tools (like grinders and saws), and welding equipment (like MIG and TIG welders).

Quality Assurance:Inspect finished parts for correct dimensions, quality, and adherence to project specifications.

Troubleshooting & Repair:Identify and resolve issues with machinery and mechanical systems.

Safety & Documentation:Adhere to company safety protocols, industry standards, and maintain accurate records of work performed.
Senior Fitter Responsibilities
- Project Oversight: Take responsibility for complex mechanical tasks and large-scale projects.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior fitters, ensure quality standards are met, and manage a team.
- Problem-Solving: Tackle more challenging engineering problems and contribute to project optimization.
- Quality Control: Oversee quality standards and ensure final products meet specifications.
