Job Description:
An Electrical Engineer in a foundry plant is responsible for the design, maintenance, and improvement of electrical systems and equipment within the foundry. This includes everything from power distribution and control systems to specific equipment like furnaces, sand plants, and material handling systems. They ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the plant's electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance and Repair:Troubleshooting and resolving electrical issues, conducting preventive and predictive maintenance on all electrical equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.

System Design and Upgrades:Designing, installing, and optimizing electrical systems for various foundry processes, including melting, casting, and finishing.

Equipment Management:Overseeing the installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical equipment and power distribution systems.

Safety and Compliance:Ensuring that all electrical systems and operations adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards.

Spares Management:Maintaining an inventory of critical electrical spare parts and components to minimize downtime.

Energy Efficiency:Identifying and implementing energy conservation opportunities within the plant.

Documentation and Reporting:Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and generating reports for management.

Training and Supervision:Training and supervising maintenance technicians and staff on proper electrical maintenance procedures and safety protocols.

Collaboration:Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
Specific Areas of Focus in a Foundry:

Furnaces:Electrical systems for induction furnaces, arc furnaces, and other types of melting equipment.

Sand Plant:Electrical systems for sand preparation, molding, and core making processes.

Fettling:Electrical systems for grinding, shot blasting, and other finishing processes.

Utilities:Electrical systems for compressed air, water, and other utilities.

Material Handling:Electrical systems for conveyors, cranes, and other material transport equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Typically requires several years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in a foundry or industrial setting.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution, motor control, PLCs, and relevant safety standards.
- Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical problems.
- Communication: Ability to communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with others.
