PLC OPERATOR FIELD FOR POWER PLANT - OPERATION - BILASPUR , CHHATTISGARH

Job Description:

To ensure the smooth and safe operation of PLC-controlled machinery and equipment in the field by performing routine monitoring, basic troubleshooting, and supporting the automation/control team in system maintenance and fault analysis.

🧰 Key Responsibilities

🔧 1. Field Operation & Monitoring

• Monitor PLC-controlled equipment such as motors, valves, conveyors, pumps, fans, etc.

• Conduct routine field inspections to check equipment status and sensor/actuator health.

• Report abnormalities or alarms (e.g., tripping, signal loss, temperature spikes) to the control room or automation engineer.

🛠️ 2. Troubleshooting Support

• Perform basic troubleshooting of field instruments and devices connected to the PLC.

• Check for loose wiring, faulty sensors, actuator failures, or communication faults.

• Assist in isolation and restoration of equipment as per safety protocols.

🧪 3. System Interaction

• Interact with HMI/SCADA screens during equipment operation or status checks.

• Acknowledge alarms and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for issue resolution.

🧹 4. Maintenance Support

• Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities on PLC-connected equipment.

• Assist in loop checks, signal testing, I/O verification during commissioning or repair work.

• Maintain cleanliness and physical integrity of field-mounted panels and devices.

🦺 5. Safety & Compliance

• Follow safety standards including PPE usage, LOTO, and Permit to Work (PTW) procedures.

• Respond to emergency situations as per plant protocol.

• Ensure proper housekeeping in field and control areas.

📋 6. Documentation & Reporting

• Record field observations and equipment readings in logbooks or digital systems.

• Report abnormal conditions and faults to engineers or shift in-charge.

• Support in documentation of changes made to wiring, instruments, or panels.

📘 Qualifications

🎓 Education:

• ITI or Diploma in:

  • Instrumentation

  • Electrical

  • Electronics

  • Mechatronics

  • Industrial Automation

🧠 Skills Required

• Basic understanding of PLC logic and I/O systems

• Ability to operate or interact with SCADA/HMI

• Knowledge of field instruments (sensors, actuators, transmitters)

• Ability to read wiring diagrams and P&ID (optional but useful)

• Good communication with engineers and control room operators

⚙️ Tools & Equipment Knowledge

• Multimeter, loop calibrator, signal simulator

• Field junction boxes, PLC cabinets, MCC panels

• Basic use of laptop or handheld programmer (if required)

• HMI touch panels
