Job Description:
A Liaison Officer for a steel company bridges communication between internal teams and external stakeholders (government, regulatory bodies, clients, suppliers, railways) to secure approvals, manage compliance, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations, handling statutory paperwork, relationship building, and reporting to management. Key duties involve navigating local laws for permits (like Pollution Control, Land Acquisition), coordinating logistics (rail, dispatch), resolving complaints with officials (Revenue, Police), and fostering strong stakeholder relations for the manufacturing plant. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Government & Regulatory Liaison:
    • Act as the primary contact for government bodies (Pollution Control Dept, Revenue, Police, CSIDC, DIC) for approvals, licenses, appeals, and complaints.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with local laws, safety standards, and industry regulations.
    • Manage statutory documentation and file processing for plant operations.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with external entities (government, railways, clients, public).
    • Serve as the main point of contact for external inquiries, concerns, and feedback.
  • Internal Coordination & Communication:
    • Facilitate smooth information flow between internal departments (legal, operations, finance) and plant workers.
    • Communicate organizational goals and updates to stakeholders.
  • Operational Support:
    • Coordinate with railways for coal dispatch and logistics.
    • Follow up on pending issues with authorities for timely resolution.
    • Prepare reports (MIS, dispatch) and provide updates to senior management. 
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience: Proven experience in liaison, public relations, or government affairs, preferably in manufacturing, steel, or infrastructure.
  • Knowledge: Sound understanding of local laws, government procedures, and the steel/metal industry.
  • Skills: Excellent communication (local language and English), negotiation, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and time management skills.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (Public Admin, Law, Business preferred).
