An Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Mechanical Maintenance is a leadership role responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and equipment within an organizationThis position involves strategic planning, team management, and ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of all mechanical assets. The AGM plays a crucial role in maximizing equipment uptime, minimizing downtime, and controlling maintenance costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning:
    Developing and implementing long-term maintenance strategies and plans to optimize equipment performance and lifespan. 
     
  • Team Leadership:
    Managing and mentoring a team of mechanical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement. 
     
  • Equipment Management:
    Overseeing the maintenance, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment, ensuring adherence to schedules and budgets. 
     
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
    Diagnosing and resolving complex mechanical issues, minimizing downtime and production disruptions. 
     
  • Safety Compliance:
    Ensuring all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations and procedures. 
     
  • Cost Management:
    Controlling maintenance budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. 
     
  • Performance Monitoring:
    Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to maintenance, equipment reliability, and safety, and taking corrective actions as needed. 
     
  • Vendor Management:
    Overseeing relationships with external vendors for parts and services. 
     
  • Budgeting and Forecasting:
    Preparing and managing maintenance budgets, forecasting future needs, and ensuring cost-effective solutions. 
     
  • Process Improvement:
    Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance maintenance efficiency and reduce downtime. 
     
Typical Tasks:
  • Developing and implementing maintenance schedules and procedures .
  • Conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance .
  • Troubleshooting and repairing equipment malfunctions .
  • Managing spare parts inventory and procurement .
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and standards .
  • Supervising and training maintenance personnel .
  • Analyzing maintenance data and identifying areas for improvement .

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field .
  • Extensive experience in mechanical maintenance, typically 10-15+ years .

  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment .
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities .
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills .
