Job Description:
An Accountant for a distributor company manages day-to-day financial transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, inventory valuation, and tax compliance. Key responsibilities include reconciling bank statements, invoicing customers, processing vendor payments, managing cash flow, and preparing financial reports. Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, QuickBooks, SAP) and Excel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoicing & Accounts Receivable (AR): Issuing invoices to customers, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding receivables.
- Accounts Payable (AP): Verifying vendor invoices, processing payments, and managing credit/debit notes.
- Inventory Accounting: Tracking inventory costs, reconciling physical stock with accounting records, and ensuring accurate valuation.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconciling bank statements and ledger accounts daily or monthly.
- Financial Reporting: Preparing monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss) to analyze company performance.
- Tax Compliance: Assisting with VAT returns, GST/tax filing, and ensuring compliance with local tax regulations.
- Cash Flow Management: Monitoring cash levels and forecasting future cash requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Experience: 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a trading or distribution firm.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Tally ERP 9, QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle ERP.
- MS Excel: High proficiency in MS Excel, specifically VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.
- Details & Analysis: Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
- Communication: Effective communication skills for interacting with suppliers, customers, and sales teams.
