Job Description:
A General Manager (GM) of Techno-Commercial bridges plant operations, engineering demands, and financial/commercial strategies to drive manufacturing profitability and operational efficiency.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategic Procurement: Manage techno-commercial evaluations, bulk purchasing of raw materials (such as iron ore, coal, or billets), and plant machinery procurement.
- Financial & P&L Control: Oversee manufacturing budgets, monitor cost-per-ton metrics, enforce financial controls, and manage Profit & Loss across units.
- Plant Operations Oversight: Align engineering requirements with production goals, maximize capacity utilization, and minimize waste or downtime.
- Contract & Vendor Management: Draft, review, and negotiate high-value vendor contracts, tenders, and alternative supplier development.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Electrical, or Civil); an MBA or PGDM in Operations/Finance is strongly preferred.
- Experience: 15 to 25+ years of total industry experience, with at least 5–7 years in a senior leadership role (like GM or DGM) within heavy manufacturing, steel, or power sectors.
- Key Skills: Deep expertise in contract law, project costing, cross-functional leadership, and market analysis.
