Job Description:
A Solvent Fractionation Operator monitors and controls equipment in a process that uses a solvent to extract and separate components from a mixture, often in oilseed or chemical plants. Key duties include adjusting temperatures and pressures, ensuring safety protocols are followed, inspecting and maintaining machinery, and testing products to meet quality standards.
Core responsibilities
- Process monitoring and control: Oversee and operate equipment like pumps, extractors, distillation columns, and heat exchangers. Adjust parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates to ensure efficient and safe operation.
- Quality control: Take and test samples of products to ensure they meet quality specifications. Monitor the quantity and quality of the final product.
- Equipment maintenance: Perform routine inspections and maintenance on machinery. Respond to and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
- Safety and compliance: Strictly adhere to safety protocols for handling volatile solvents, which includes preventing leaks and responding to emergencies like spills or fires.
- Record keeping: Log operational details, production volumes, and any process issues or abnormalities.
- Technical support: Provide technical support and training to other operators and staff.
- Reporting: Report operational figures and production issues to senior management and prepare necessary reports.
