CRO SID FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIPUR , CHHATTISGARH

The CRO will oversee the identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of risks across the Sponge Iron Division. This role ensures that operational, financial, regulatory, and strategic risks are managed effectively to safeguard assets, ensure regulatory compliance, and support sustainable business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Risk Management Strategy

• Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework specific to the sponge iron production process.

• Identify key risks in areas such as raw material procurement, production, logistics, health & safety, environmental compliance, and financial operations.

• Establish policies and procedures to mitigate operational and financial risks.

2. Operational Risk Oversight

• Monitor and analyze production processes, including kiln operations, DRI (Direct Reduced Iron) plant efficiency, and maintenance practices.

• Assess risks related to process safety, machinery breakdown, energy supply, and material handling.

• Implement proactive measures to minimize accidents, production losses, and environmental incidents.

3. Financial & Commercial Risk

• Evaluate market risks related to iron ore and coal pricing, power costs, and supply chain fluctuations.

• Advise management on hedging strategies, insurance coverage, and contract risk mitigation.

• Ensure proper internal controls and audits in financial processes.

4. Regulatory & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national regulations, including environmental, safety, and labor laws.

• Oversee environmental management practices to minimize pollution and regulatory penalties.

• Liaise with auditors, regulators, and external agencies on risk compliance issues.

5. Strategic Risk Management

• Provide risk insights to support decision-making for expansion projects, technology upgrades, and capital investments.

• Participate in business continuity planning and crisis management strategies.

• Foster a risk-aware culture throughout the division.

6. Reporting & Communication

• Prepare risk dashboards and reports for the Board and senior management.

• Conduct risk workshops and training programs for operational and managerial staff.

• Ensure timely communication of emerging risks and mitigation measures.

Key Qualifications & Skills:

• Postgraduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining, Mechanical, or Industrial Management; MBA/Finance is a plus.

• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in risk management, operations, or finance in steel or sponge iron industry.

• Strong understanding of sponge iron manufacturing processes, raw material markets, and production risks.

• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations relevant to the metallurgical sector.

• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

• Leadership skills with the ability to influence and build risk-aware culture.
