Role Overview
The Production Head directs all production operations, resource planning, and quality control systems to ensure output targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget. Unlike a tactical Production Manager who handles day-to-day shift oversight, the Production Head focuses on long-term capacity planning, strategic budgeting, inter-departmental alignment, and process innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute multi-year production strategies, capacity expansions, and operational roadmaps aligned with company business goals.
- Budget & Cost Management: Oversee departmental capital and operating budgets, control manufacturing costs, and drive continuous cost-reduction initiatives.
- Quality & Compliance: Enforce strict quality assurance standards and ensure complete compliance with local, national, and industry-specific health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Leadership & Team Development: Mentor and evaluate senior production managers, plant engineers, and supervisors; build a high-performance culture across the workforce.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Sales, and Quality Assurance to synchronize material flow, delivery schedules, and product design updates.
- Performance & Data Analysis: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield rates, downtime, and labor productivity, reporting progress to executive leadership.
- Continuous Improvement: Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, automation, and workflow optimization programs to eliminate waste and maximize output.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Process Engineering, or a related field (Business Administration/Operations Management).
- Experience: 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment, including multi-plant or senior management roles.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in production planning, ERP/MRP systems, lean methodologies, and quality management frameworks (e.g., ISO, Six Sigma).
- Core Competencies: Strong strategic foresight, financial acumen, crisis management, exceptional cross-functional communication, and people leadership
