Job Description:
An accounting controller (or financial controller) is a senior leader who manages daily accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
They typically report to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and oversee teams handling the general ledger, payroll, and audits.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Operations Oversight: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger workflows.
- Internal Controls: Design, implement, and monitor financial policies to lower risk.
- Audits & Tax: Lead external audit coordination and ensure tax compliance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with financial planning, variance analysis, and cash flow tracking.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) strongly preferred.
- Experience: 5 to 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of GAAP or IFRS, ERP systems (like SAP, Oracle, or QuickBooks), and Excel
