Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented DCS Engineer to manage, optimize, and support our process control and automation infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering, operations, and safety teams to ensure seamless plant operations, troubleshoot system faults, and implement control upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- System Design & Configuration: Design, configure, and commission DCS hardware, software, graphics, and control logic (PID loops, sequential control).
- Programming & Logic Development: Develop application software using standards like Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and Function Block Diagrams.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Diagnose and resolve DCS hardware, communication network, and field instrumentation issues.
- System Upgrades: Plan and execute system backups, firmware upgrades, database management, and migration projects.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with industry safety standards (e.g., HAZOP, ISO, OSHA, cybersecurity guidelines).
- Collaboration & Training: Provide technical support to operators, coordinate with contractors, and train staff on DCS operations and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 to 5+ years of hands-on experience working with Distributed Control Systems in a heavy industry environment (e.g., Oil & Gas, Power, Chemical, or Manufacturing).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson, Honeywell, Siemens, ABB — tailor to your specific brand).
- Strong knowledge of P&IDs, loop diagrams, PLCs, SCADA, and HMI design.
- Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus, OPC)
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, calm demeanor during plant emergencies, and effective communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Industrial plant environment (may require working around hot, noisy, or elevated areas).
- On-call support or shift coverage for plant emergencies may be required.
