Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for safe and efficient operation of JCB/backhoe loader for material handling, loading, excavation, shifting, housekeeping, and other assigned plant activities while maintaining equipment safety and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate JCB/backhoe loader safely and efficiently as per work requirements.
• Perform loading, unloading, digging, excavation, shifting, and material handling activities.
• Handle materials such as soil, sand, coal, iron ore, scrap, slag, and other industrial materials.
• Conduct pre-start inspection of engine, hydraulic system, tyres, brakes, bucket, boom, arm, lights, horn, and safety devices.
• Check engine oil, coolant, hydraulic oil, fuel, and other required fluids.
• Operate JCB within specified load and operating limits.
• Follow proper loading, digging, lifting, and material shifting procedures.
• Maintain safe distance from workers, vehicles, structures, electrical lines, and other equipment.
• Coordinate with supervisors, helpers, truck drivers, and other operators.
• Avoid overloading, unsafe lifting, sudden movements, and improper machine operation.
• Identify abnormal noise, vibration, hydraulic leakage, overheating, or other equipment problems.
• Report breakdowns and defects immediately to the supervisor/maintenance team.
• Carry out routine cleaning, greasing, and basic operator-level maintenance.
• Maintain machine cleanliness and ensure proper parking after operation.
• Maintain daily machine operation and equipment-hour records.
• Follow plant safety rules, SOPs, PPE requirements, and traffic/vehicle movement rules.
• Support housekeeping and material management activities within the plant.
• Ensure safe operation during day/night and shift duties.
• Participate in toolbox talks and safety training.
• Maintain proper handover of machine condition during shift changes.

Qualification

• 8th/10th pass minimum
• 12th/ITI preferred
• Valid JCB/Heavy Equipment Operator Licence or Certificate preferred

Experience

• 2–5 years of experience as JCB/Backhoe Loader Operator.
• Experience in Steel Plant, DRI Plant, Ferro Alloy, Mining, Construction, or Manufacturing Plant preferred.
• Experience in handling coal, iron ore, scrap, slag, soil, and other industrial materials will be an advantage.
