Job Description:
A mechanical fitter builds, installs, maintains, and repairs industrial machinery and heavy equipment. They interpret technical blueprints, use precision measuring tools, and assemble or fix mechanical parts like gears, pumps, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and smooth factory operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Read Blueprints: Interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and engineering instructions.
- Assemble & Install: Fit and align mechanical components to build new machinery.
- Maintain & Repair: Run routine checks, diagnose mechanical faults, and replace broken parts.
- Shape Materials: Cut, drill, and grind metal parts using hand and power tools.
- Safety Compliance: Follow workplace safety rules and use protective gear.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Precision: Ability to use calipers, micrometers, and torque wrenches accurately.
- Physical Stamina: Good fitness and manual dexterity to handle heavy tools and parts.
- Education: High school diploma plus vocational training or a mechanical trade apprenticeship.
