Job Description:
A Project Purchase (or Project Procurement) role manages the end-to-end acquisition of goods, equipment, and services needed for specific company projects. They align buying activities with project timelines, technical scopes, and budgets.
Job Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Bidding: Find and vet vendors. Run RFPs (Requests for Proposals) and RFQs (Requests for Quotations) for project needs.
- Negotiation: Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Project Tracking: Monitor delivery timelines to make sure materials arrive before project deadlines.
- Cross-Functional Work: Meet with project managers, engineering, and finance teams to review material needs and budgets.
- Cost Control: Track spending and find ways to lower total costs without lowering quality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain up-to-date files on purchase orders, delivery statuses, and vendor contracts.
Requirements & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 2 to 5+ years of buying or procurement experience, ideally within a project-driven industry like construction, manufacturing, or IT.
- Negotiation Skills: Strong ability to secure good contract terms and lower costs.
- Organization: Great at tracking many orders and tasks at the same time.
- Software: Knowledge of ERP tools like SAP or Oracle, plus standard office software.
