Job Description:
An electrical engineer designs, develops, and tests electrical devices and systems. Their daily responsibilities include creating technical schematics using design software, calculating power requirements, and overseeing the manufacturing or installation process while ensuring all safety regulations and regional codes are met.
Role & Responsibilities
- System Design: Design power distribution, control systems, and lighting networks using CAD software.
- Testing & Quality: Develop testing methods to verify the reliability, safety, and efficiency of electrical components.
- Compliance: Ensure all engineering designs meet local, state, and national electrical safety codes.
- Project Management: Estimate material and labor costs, prepare project budgets, and oversee installation or manufacturing.
- Collaboration: Work alongside mechanical engineers, project managers, and contractors to integrate electrical systems into larger commercial or industrial projects.
- Maintenance: Create inspection schedules, troubleshoot equipment failures, and develop maintenance protocols.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Proficiency in electrical design and calculation software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP).
- Strong knowledge of industry safety regulations and electrical codes.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical writing skills.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is highly desirable.
