Job Description:
“Interpret complex engineering blueprints and technical drawings to understand part specifications, dimensions, and machining sequences”, as noted bY
- Machine Setup: Mount, align, and secure workpieces, fixtures, and cutting tools into the machine.
- Operation:
“Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece and to regulate factors, such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.”
- Quality Control: Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, and calipers.
- Maintenance: Perform routine machine maintenance, lubrication, and basic troubleshooting for optimal performance.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety procedures to maintain a secure heavy-engineering work environment.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 5+ years of hands-on experience in horizontal boring mill operations within a heavy engineering or manufacturing setting.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T.
- Tool Proficiency: Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and various cutting tools, feeds, and speeds.
- CNC/Manual: For CNC roles, familiarity with programming controls (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) is required.
- Education: ITI Machinist certification, diploma in mechanical engineering, or equivalent vocational training is preferred.
