Job Description:
A Production Supervisor oversees daily manufacturing operations on the factory floor. They bridge the gap between upper management and the workforce, managing production schedules, team performance, and resource allocation to ensure output targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Planning: Coordinate and schedule daily or weekly production runs based on sales forecasts and inventory availability.
- Team Management: Assign daily tasks, train new personnel, monitor team productivity, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all manufactured products meet strict company and industry quality standards, addressing and resolving defects as they arise.
- Health & Safety: Enforce company policies and regulatory compliance (like OSHA guidelines, 5S, or GMP), ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
- Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify bottlenecks in the manufacturing workflow and schedule regular equipment maintenance with the maintenance team to minimize downtime.
- Reporting: Track production metrics (KPIs) and report operational progress, yields, and issues to the Production Manager.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 2-5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, including previous supervisory experience.
- Education: A High School Diploma is required; a bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering, Business Management, or a related technical field is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong leadership, conflict resolution, proficiency with production management software, and deep knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
