Job Description:
A Lab Chemist conducts qualitative and quantitative experiments, analyzes chemical substances, and ensures quality control and regulatory compliance. They operate specialized laboratory equipment, formulate new chemical products, and document test results to support research and development, manufacturing, and product safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Analysis: Conduct routine and specialized chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Experimentation: Design and execute chemical experiments, prepare standard solutions and reagents, and customize formulas.
- Equipment Maintenance: Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot complex laboratory instruments like chromatography (HPLC, GC) and spectrophotometers.
- Data & Reporting: Interpret analytical data, maintain precise lab records, and write detailed technical reports.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations.
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Experience: 1 to 3+ years of experience in a chemical, pharmaceutical, or clinical laboratory environment (varies by seniority).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with advanced analytical techniques and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving, high attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
