Job Description:
An Angle Mill Supervisor in a steel manufacturing plant oversees daily shift operations to safely and efficiently produce steel angles. They manage mill crews, adjust rolling machinery, monitor strict dimensional and quality standards, and enforce safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Production Management: Direct shift operations to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets for steel angle manufacturing.
- Quality Control: Ensure all finished angles meet required specifications, such as grade, thickness, length, and straightness, minimizing material waste.
- Machinery & Roll Setup: Oversee roll changes, speed adjustments, tension, and temperature control within the mill.
- Team Leadership: Train, schedule, and supervise floor workers and operators.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work with the maintenance team to perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical failures quickly to reduce downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce stringent safety protocols, including PPE usage and hazard reporting, to maintain a safe work environment.
- Reporting: Maintain accurate shift logs covering production volume, equipment downtime, and safety incidents.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering, or equivalent vocational certifications.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5 years of floor supervisory experience in a hot rolling or structural steel mill.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of rolling mill processes, equipment setup, and steel metallurgy.
- Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills for generating production reports and inventory management.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving abilities, and crisis management skills.
