Job Description:
A Mechanical or Diploma Engineer in a fabrication plant bridges the gap between theoretical design and shop-floor manufacturing. They oversee daily fabrication processes (cutting, welding, bending), conduct quality inspections, and assist in equipment maintenance. These engineers are crucial for ensuring production efficiency and structural integrity.
Core Responsibilities
- Production & Fabrication Oversight: Supervise daily shop-floor operations, including cutting, welding, machining, and assembly of metal structures.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret 2D/3D engineering drawings, fabrication blueprints, and Bills of Materials (BOM) accurately.
- Quality Assurance & Control: Monitor manufacturing processes, perform root-cause analyses on defects, and inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments.
- Equipment Maintenance: Support the maintenance team in conducting preventive and breakdown maintenance on fabrication machinery to minimize production downtime.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, verify 5S (housekeeping) standards, and ensure all fabricated parts meet industry codes and ISO standards.
- Team Coordination: Act as a liaison between senior management, welders, fitters, and external vendors/suppliers.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Educational Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or B.E./B.Tech.
- Technical Software: Familiarity with CAD drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD ).
- Material Knowledge: Understanding of the properties of steel, aluminum, and various alloys.
- Process Understanding: Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods
