Job Description:
A Coal Washery Foreman oversees the daily operations of a coal preparation plant, ensuring maximum yield and strict adherence to quality and safety standards. They manage shift workers, monitor processing equipment (crushers, jigs, and cyclones), and enforce statutory environmental and mining regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Operations: Manage daily shift production schedules to optimize coal quality (e.g., maintaining desired ash and moisture percentages).
- Equipment Monitoring: Oversee the mechanical processes including crushers, vibrating screens, dense media cyclones, and thickeners.
- Quality Control: Coordinate with the lab team for routine coal sampling and analysis to ensure the final washed product meets exact client or power plant specifications.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce PPE usage, conduct daily toolbox talks, and strictly adhere to Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS).and State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) regulations.
- Manpower & Shift Management: Schedule shift workers, delegate tasks, and provide ongoing on-site training.
- Maintenance Coordination: Work alongside the mechanical and electrical maintenance teams to minimize equipment downtime and carry out preventive maintenance.
- Documentation: Maintain shift logs, production records, dispatch logs, and assist in management reviews.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Typically 5 To 10years of relevant experience in coal beneficiation or coal handling plants.
- Education: Diploma in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical degree.
- Certifications: Often requires statutory certificates such as a Mine Foreman or Overman Certificate of Competency (under DGMS regulations in India).
- Core Skills: Strong leadership, troubleshooting abilities, understanding of process parameters, and knowledge of SAP-ERP for inventory and reporting.
