Job Description:
A Service Engineer for Diesel Generator (DG) operations is responsible for the commissioning, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repair of DG sets to ensure reliable power. They conduct routine mechanical and electrical inspections, perform performance tests, and maintain equipment availability across industrial or commercial sites. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Core Responsibilities
- Preventive Maintenance: Conduct scheduled servicing (engine oil changes, filter and coolant replacements, battery checks) to prevent equipment failure . [1]
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control system faults, and replace defective parts promptly.
- Installation & Commissioning: Install new DG sets, align engines, and perform initial testing before handover to clients. [1, 2, 3]
- Testing & Quality: Conduct load testing, voltage/frequency checks, and evaluate the performance of alternators and AMF/ATS panels. [1, 2]
- Reporting & Compliance: Document service logs, breakdown reports, and maintenance schedules while strictly adhering to safety and environmental regulations. [1]
- Client Relations: Respond to emergency service requests, educate operators on proper DG usage, and manage Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC). [1, 2, 3, 4]
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automobile, or Power Electronics engineering.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years of hands-on field experience with diesel gensets.
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of engine mechanics, alternators, synchronization panels, and electrical schematics.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving abilities, effective field communication, and a valid driver's license for site-to-site travel.
