Job Description:

A Manager of Mechanical Maintenance in a power plant oversees the reliability, repair, and daily upkeep of all mechanical equipment. They lead maintenance teams, enforce strict safety and environmental standards, and plan both routine and shutdown activities to minimize plant downtime . [1, 2, 3, 4]

Core Responsibilities

Maintenance Execution: Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for heavy rotating and static equipment like boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, and cooling towers. [1, 2]
Resource & Shutdown Planning: Develop maintenance schedules, distribute manpower, and plan annual overhauls to ensure zero forced outages. [1, 2]
Team Leadership: Supervise, train, and mentor mechanical engineers and technicians while fostering a strong safety culture. [1]
Budget & Inventory Management: Oversee departmental budgets, manage spare parts inventory, and coordinate with vendors for parts procurement. [1, 2]
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and internal EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) policies, and document equipment history. [1, 2]

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: Typically 8 to 15+ years in heavy industrial settings, with specific experience in power generation (e.g., thermal, gas, or hydro).
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of power plant machinery, diagnostic tools, and root cause analysis.
