Job Description:
An HR Manager in a cement plant bridges the gap between management and the factory workforce. They oversee manpower planning, industrial relations, labor law compliance, and employee welfare. This role is vital for maintaining a harmonious work environment and ensuring zero disruptions to production. [1, 2]
Key Responsibilities
  • Industrial Relations (IR) & Union Management:
    • Lead collective bargaining and negotiate settlements with labor unions.
    • Manage grievance redressals and resolve conflicts to ensure a peaceful, productive work environment. [1, 2, 3]
  • Statutory Compliance:
    • Ensure strict adherence to labor regulations (e.g., Factories Act, EPF, ESIC, Minimum Wages Act).
    • Oversee factory license renewals, audits, and coordinate with government labor authorities. [1, 2]
  • Contract Labor Management:
    • Monitor staffing, minimum wages, and attendance for all contractual workers.
    • Ensure contractors comply with strict safety protocols and provide necessary welfare facilities. [1, 2]
  • Recruitment & Retention:
    • Handle manpower planning for both permanent and seasonal operational roles.
    • Execute onboarding, training, and performance management across departments. [1, 2]
  • Employee Welfare & Safety:
    • Administer employee benefits, insurance, and medical facilities.
    • Collaborate with the safety department to promote a safety-first culture and enforce site-wide policies.
    • Plan and execute recreational, health, and Community Social Responsibility (CSR) activities. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Essential Qualifications
  • Education: A postgraduate degree (MBA/PGDM) in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Labor Law. [1]
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of experience in human resources, with at least 3-5 years specifically in a heavy manufacturing, cement, or similar industrial plant. [1, 2, 3]
  • Skills Required: Extensive knowledge of labor laws, strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and excellent communication abilities in local languages. [1, 2, 3]
