Job Description:
A Packing Supervisor for a ferro alloys unit in a steel company directs the final sizing, metal segregation, packing processes, and logistics. They ensure safe, accurate, and efficient packaging of products (like Silico Manganese or Ferro Manganese) while managing labor, maintaining inventory records, and enforcing strict safety regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Material Management: Oversee the crushing, breaking, and sizing of ferro alloy metals, ensuring slag and different metal grades are correctly identified and separated.
- Packing Execution: Achieve daily packaging quotas and ensure the final product is packed securely in accordance with company and client standards.
- Loading and Dispatch: Supervise and actively involve in the loading and unloading of finished goods for timely dispatch to clients.
- Manpower Distribution: Allocate daily tasks to packers and laborers, manage shift schedules, and ensure a high-performance working culture on the shop floor.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate daily logs of packed materials, inventory, and activities, and report directly to the Head of Department or Operations Manager.
- Quality Control: Inspect packed materials for consistency, weight accuracy, and proper labeling to prevent cross-contamination of alloy grades.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintain strict health and safety norms for the engaged manpower.
- Housekeeping: Ensure the packing, sizing, and loading areas are kept clean, orderly, and hazard-free. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 2 to 5 years of experience in the ferro alloys, secondary steel, or heavy manufacturing sector.
- Knowledge: Hands-on understanding of metal packing, sizing (breaking processes for SiMn, FeMn), and handling.
