AC TECHNICIAN DRI FOR STEEL MANUFACTURING - RAIGARH , CHHATTISGARH
Job Description:
An Electrical AC Technician (Drive / DRI) is responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, AC drives, motors, and control equipment used in Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plants and steel manufacturing units. The role ensures uninterrupted plant operations, equipment safety, and efficient power utilization.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
⚡ Electrical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Maintain and repair AC/DC drives, motors, panels, and control systems
- Troubleshoot faults in VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), PLC-based systems, and industrial automation equipment
- Diagnose electrical failures in DRI plant equipment like conveyors, kiln, fans, blowers, and compressors
🏭 Plant Operations Support
- Ensure smooth operation of DRI plant electrical systems
- Monitor electrical parameters (voltage, current, frequency, load)
- Assist production team during startup, shutdown, and emergencies
🧰 Preventive Maintenance (PM)
- Perform scheduled maintenance of electrical equipment
- Check insulation resistance, earthing, and cable health
- Lubricate and service motors and rotating equipment
🖥️ Control & Automation
- Work with PLCs, SCADA systems, and control panels
- Support programming and parameter setting of AC drives (ABB, Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
- Calibrate sensors, transmitters, and field instruments
🛡️ Safety Compliance
- Follow all electrical safety rules and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Ensure compliance with industrial safety standards
- Report hazards and maintain safe working environment
🧠 Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of AC drives (VFDs), motors, and industrial wiring
- Understanding of DRI plant processes (kiln, rotary system, conveyors)
- PLC and SCADA basic troubleshooting
- Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of HT/LT systems (as applicable)
🎓 Qualifications
- ITI (Electrical) / Diploma in Electrical Engineering (preferred)
- 2–5 years experience in steel plant / heavy industry (preferred)
