Quality Head (Steel Company)
Position: Quality Head
Industry: Steel / Metal Manufacturing
Experience: 18-20+ years (preferably in steel plants)
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
- Lead overall Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions in steel production
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and other applicable standards
- Monitor raw material quality (iron ore, scrap, alloys) and finished steel products
- Develop and implement quality inspection procedures across all production stages
- Handle internal and external audits and customer inspections
- Reduce rejection rates and improve process capability
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for quality failures and implement corrective actions
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams for process improvement
- Manage quality lab operations and testing procedures
- Train and guide quality team members
📊 Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of steel manufacturing processes (BF, EAF, rolling mill, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with metallurgical testing and inspection tools
- Expertise in quality systems, documentation, and audit handling
- Leadership and team management skills
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking
🎓 Qualifications:
- B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy / Mechanical / Materials Science (preferred)
- Additional certification in Quality Management (ISO, Six Sigma) is an advantage
