Job Description:
A Marketing/Sales Officer for steel traders drives revenue by identifying new clients, managing relationships with builders/industrial buyers, and achieving sales targets for products like TMT bars, plates, and structural steel. They negotiate contracts, conduct site visits, and ensure timely, profitable deliveries.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Proactively identify new construction projects, fabricators, and industrial clients through cold calling, site visits, and networking.
- Sales Targets: Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales volume and revenue targets.
- Client Relationship Management: Maintain strong relationships with contractors, engineers, project managers, and procurement teams.
- Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules to close deals while ensuring profitability.
- Order Execution: Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely material delivery (OTIF - On Time In Full).
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and pricing strategies in the assigned territory.
- Payment Collection: Follow up with clients to ensure timely payment collection and reduce outstanding receivables.
- Technical Knowledge: Understand structural drawings and product specifications (angles, channels, beams, TMT) to advise clients.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of field sales experience, preferably in structural steel, construction, or building materials.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical preferred) or a relevant field.
- Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Mobility: Must be able to travel regularly to project sites and client meetings.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel) and CRM tools.

- Monthly sales volume achievement (tonnage).
- Number of new inquiries/customers generated.
- Order conversion ratio.
- Collection efficiency and reduction of outstanding debt.
