Job Description:
A Security Gate In-Charge for a steel pipe manufacturing facility is responsible for managing all access points to the plant, ensuring the security of personnel, and safeguarding assets, particularly raw materials (steel coils/plates) and finished steel pipes. They oversee the security team and control the entry/exit of staff, visitors, and vehicles to prevent theft, unauthorized access, and safety incidents.
Core Responsibilities
- Material Security & Gate Pass Verification: Strictly verify all incoming and outgoing materials against valid gate passes, invoices, and purchase orders.
- Vehicle Inspection: Check all incoming vehicles (raw material carriers) and outgoing vehicles (finished product transport) to ensure loads are properly secured, covered, and match documentation.
- Access Control & Access Control: Manage the entrance for employees, visitors, and contractors, ensuring only authorized personnel enter the factory, using identification systems (e.g., ID cards, computerized pass systems).
- Surveillance & Patrol Monitoring: Monitor CCTV cameras, monitor alarm systems, and coordinate patrolling of the perimeter to prevent theft and infiltration.
- Documentation & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate daily logs of vehicles, visitors, and personnel entry/exit times.
- Emergency Response: Lead the security team in handling emergency situations, such as fires, accidents, or unauthorized forced entry, including operating sirens and coordinating with local authorities.
- Staff Leadership: Supervise, train, and schedule security guards to ensure 24/7 security coverage, discipline, and alertness.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure visitors wear appropriate PPE (if needed) and enforce safety guidelines at the gate.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience in industrial security, particularly in steel or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Background: Retired personnel from the military, paramilitary (e.g., CISF), or state police are often highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, knowledge of security gadgets (CCTV, metal detectors), and basic computer proficiency for documentation.
- Attributes: High level of alertness, integrity, and ability to work under pressure.

- Zero incidents of material theft.
- 100% accuracy in gate pass documentation.
- Timely response to security incidents.
This role requires a proactive approach to prevent theft and pilferage, which are common in manufacturing due to the high value of raw materials like steel.
