Job Description:
A Mechanical Engineer or Technician in the manufacture of refractory ceramic products (e.g., bricks, castables, tap hole clay) is responsible for maintaining, operating, and optimizing the machinery used to produce materials capable of withstanding extreme temperatures. This role bridges technical design with physical production, covering raw material processing, forming, drying, and kiln firing.
Core Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Maintenance: Operating and maintaining crushing/grinding machinery (pan mills, ball mills), mixing machines, and hydraulic/manual pressing machines.
- Production & Process Control: Managing end-to-end production operations, includingRaw material handling, batching, and homogenization of mixes.
- Kiln Operations: Operating, monitoring, and maintaining kilns, burners, and cooling systems to ensure proper firing schedules.
- Quality Assurance: Ensuring products meet technical standards (CCS, HMOR, flowability) by checking consistency and monitoring production parameters.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Handling machinery breakdowns, such as hydraulic failures, kiln lining issues, or mixer component repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, including EPA regulations.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical/Ceramic/Metallurgy Engineering.
- Experience: 1–5+ years in refractory, ceramic, or related material processing industries.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of refractory materials, crushing/grinding processes, and hydraulic systems.
- Skills: Ability to work with SAP (PP/MM), create Bills of Materials (BOMs), and lead a team of operators.

- Breakdown Mitigation: Ensuring high uptime of equipment through preventive maintenance.
