Job Description:
A Lab Head of Department (HOD) for a Coal Washery leads laboratory operations, ensuring accurate and timely analysis of raw, washed, and reject coal samples to optimize processing efficiency, maintain quality standards, and ensure regulatory compliance. They manage laboratory staff, oversee equipment calibration, and verify proximate/ultimate analysis data for crucial, high-stakes quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management: Oversee sampling, sample preparation, and rigorous testing to ensure product quality.
- Analysis Oversight: Supervise analysis of raw, washed, and reject coal samples.
- Operational Control: Ensure data from Coal Quality Analysis and Ultimate Analysis are used to maintain high standards.
- Lab Operations: Manage laboratory staff, calibrate equipment, and maintain high standards of laboratory safety.
- Reporting & Compliance: Generate detailed, accurate reports and ensure adherence to environmental and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Experience: Typically requires 10 to 15 years of experience.
- Education: A background in chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field is often required.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Coal Testing techniques, including Proximate and Ultimate analysis, and experience in Washery Process Control.
