Job Description:
A Senior Manager/AGM in a steel company (CCM, Rolling Mill, or Operations) leads production, maintenance, or quality departments, ensuring maximum efficiency, high product quality (billets/slabs/rolls), and safety compliance. They manage teams, monitor process parameters, minimize downtime, and drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Production/Operations: Oversee shift/plant-level operations (e.g., CCM or Rolling Mill), manage start-up/shutdown, and ensure production targets.
- Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance for mechanical/electrical equipment, ensuring high asset reliability and reducing breakdowns.
- Quality Control: Enforce quality standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001), conduct root cause analysis (RCA) of defects, and ensure product quality.
- Team Leadership: Lead shift teams, manage manpower deployment, conduct performance reviews, and foster a safe work environment.
- Process Improvement & Cost Control: Optimize production processes to improve yield, reduce costs, and manage refractory and consumable consumption.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulations, and maintain accurate production/maintenance reports.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Generally 15+ years of experience in the steel industry, specifically in casting, rolling, or maintenance.
- Education: BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Metallurgical Engineering or equivalent.
- Leadership: Strong team management, coordination, and analytical skills.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in SAP and expertise in steelmaking process equipment
