Job Description:
A 1st Class Boiler Operator in a power plant is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and monitoring of high-pressure boilers (often AFBC/WHRB), steam turbines, and associated auxiliaries. They must possess a valid 1st Class Boiler Attendant Certificate and hold expertise in controlling, troubleshooting, and repairing steam systems while adhering to IBR regulations.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Operations & Monitoring: Operate and monitor high-pressure boilers, Heat Recovery Steam Generation (HRSG) units, and DM/RO water treatment plants.
- System Control: Manage boiler feed water systems, fuel handling systems, and steam networks, ensuring optimal pressure and temperature.
- Startup & Shutdown: Execute safe startups and shutdowns of boilers and auxiliary equipment.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure compliance with IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations) and safety standards, handling, and issuing work permits for hot and cold work.
- Data Logging: Maintain accurate, detailed logs of boiler operations, water chemistry, and fuel consumption.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Certification: Valid 1st Class Boiler Operator Certificate (mandatory).
- Experience: Generally 1–10 years of experience in power plant or high-pressure industrial boiler environments.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of DCS/PLC control systems, steam turbines, and combustion systems.
- Industry Experience: Knowledge of AFBC/WHRB boilers.
