A Deputy Manager (Dy. Manager) or Assistant Manager (AM) in a steel company acts as the crucial middle-layer link between senior management (Head/AVP) and ground-level operators. They are primarily responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, meeting production targets, enforcing safety, and managing team activities. - Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to safety (OSHA/local regulations) and quality standards (ISO).
- Reporting & MIS: Prepare daily/monthly production, maintenance, or MIS reports (e.g., using SAP) for senior management.
- Process Improvement: Identify gaps, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement cost-saving initiatives (e.g., Lean manufacturing).
- Interdepartmental Coordination: Collaborate with other departments (e.g., maintenance working with production) to minimize downtime.

1. Production/Operation (Rolling Mill, SMS, DRI)
- Manage shift-wise production of TMT bars, steel tubes, or alloys.
