Job Description:
A Control Room Operator (CRO) for a Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) / Sponge Iron Division (SID) in a steel plant is responsible for operating and monitoring rotary kilns, cooler systems, and auxiliary equipment via Distributed Control Systems (DCS) or SCADA. The role aims to ensure optimal production rates, product quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
Key Job Description Components (CRO SID - Raipur/Raigarh/Gandhidham)
- Process Control & Monitoring: Operate the kiln via DCS/SCADA, managing temperatures (approx. 1000°C - 1100°C), feed rates, and air supply.
- Production Optimization: Monitor coal-to-iron (C/Fe) ratios and raw material feed to ensure high-quality sponge iron.
- Anomaly Management: Address process anomalies such as kiln jams, accretion formation, and air ratio imbalances.
- Raw Material Handling: Monitor the feeding of iron ore, coal, and dolomite, ensuring proper charging and discharging.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict process safety standards, manage emergency shutdowns, and adhere to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Reporting: Document hourly production data, process parameters, and shift incidents.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
- Experience: 2.0 to 5.0 years in DRI/Sponge Iron plant operations (specifically in a control room).
- Qualification: Diploma in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or ITI (Fitter).
- Skills: Strong understanding of rotary kiln technology, SCADA/DCS systems, and troubleshooting skills.
Salary & Location
- Locations: Primarily in Chhattisgarh (Raipur, Raigarh, Bhilai, Tilda, Belpan) and Gujarat (Gandhidham).
- Salary Range: Typical CTC ranges from ₹1.80 LPA to ₹4.20 LPA based on experience, with some senior roles (such as in Gujarat) paying up to ₹40k+ per month

The entity is engaged in setting up a Greenfield project at Mudpar --- Rampura villages in the Nawagarh tehsil, Bemetara district (near Mungeli), which includes 2×350 TPD DRI (sponge iron) kilns --- an 18-MW WHRB-based captive --- plant.
