Job Description:
A Raw Material Processing (RMP) Manager in a Sponge Iron Division (SID/DRI) or Integrated Steel Plant is a senior-level position responsible for the entire supply chain of raw materials from receiving to feeding the furnaces (rotary kilns, blast furnaces, or melting shops). This role ensures uninterrupted, quality-controlled raw material supply (iron ore, coal, lime) to maximize kiln campaign life and achieve high production targets.
Core Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Lead RMP teams to manage crushing, screening, conveying, and raw material feeding systems. Ensure optimal operation of crushers, rotary kilns, and conveyors.
- Quality & Process Control: Ensure raw materials (sized coal, iron ore, limestone) meet company-defined specs (size, moisture). Monitor kiln operations for process optimization.
- Inventory & Material Handling: Manage raw material FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and maintain daily stock levels in bunkers.
- Safety & Maintenance: Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols (PPE, LOTO) and housekeeping standards. Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance of equipment.
- Reporting & Reporting: Prepare daily production and raw material usage reports for senior management.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years in raw material procurement or processing within a large integrated steel plant.
- Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with heavy equipment (conveyors, screeners), PLC/DCS systems, and kiln operation.
- Leadership: Strong team leadership to manage operators and workers.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Mining/Metallurgy) or Supply Chain Management.
