Job Description:
A DM (Demineralization) Plant Operator in a power plant operates and maintains water treatment systems to produce high-purity, mineral-free water for boilers. Key duties include monitoring equipment (pumps, filters), testing water quality parameters, managing chemical regeneration, and maintaining safety standards to prevent corrosion and ensure efficient plant operations. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Plant Operation: Operate and monitor DM plant machinery, including softeners, filters, and ion-exchange columns.
  • Water Quality Control: Test water chemistry (pH, conductivity, silica) regularly to ensure it meets boiler specifications.
  • Regeneration Process: Manage the chemical regeneration of ion-exchange resins when quality dips, ensuring precise chemical handling.
  • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on pumps, valves, and control panels to prevent malfunctions.
  • Troubleshooting: Address operational malfunctions and troubleshoot issues like pressure drops or high conductivity.
  • Record Keeping: Log operational data, test results, and chemical usage in accordance with regulations. 
     
Requirements & Skills
  • Education: High school diploma, ITI in fitting/mechanic, or B.Sc. in Chemistry.
  • Experience: Prior experience in water treatment plants (RO or DM) is typically required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of ion exchange, regeneration processes, and chemical handling.
  • Safety Adherence: Ability to follow strict safety protocols and environmental compliance guidelines.
