Job Description:
A 2nd Class Boiler Operator in a steel company operates and maintains high-pressure industrial boilers (e.g., AFBC, WHRB) to ensure consistent steam production. Key duties involve monitoring operating parameters via DCS, managing water treatment and fuel ratios, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring strict compliance with IBR (Indian Boiler Regulations).
Key Job Responsibilities
- Boiler Operation & Monitoring: Start up, shut down, and operate boilers and auxiliaries (pumps, fans, water treatment) while maintaining optimal steam pressure and water levels.
- System Control: Monitor pressure, temperature, and draft meters; adjust controls to meet production demands efficiently.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform daily inspections, routine cleaning, and minor repairs on boilers and associated equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to IBR standards and safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment.
- Reporting & Documentation: Keep precise records of fuel consumption, water treatment, and operational data.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Certification: Valid 2nd Class Boiler Operator Certificate.
- Experience: Usually 2–5 years of experience, preferably in a steel manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of FBC/WHRB boiler technology, combustion principles, and safety practices.
Typical Qualifications for a 2nd Class Boiler Operator:
- Required Certification: Must possess a valid Second Class Boiler Operator license.
- Skills: Experience in handling industrial steam boilers, troubleshooting technical issues, and knowledge of boiler safety regulations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in high-temperature environments and perform maintenance tasks.
