Job Description:
A Human Resources (HR) Officer is responsible for managing the daily operational aspects of the human resources department, acting as a key bridge between management and employees. They ensure compliance with labor laws, manage the employee lifecycle—from recruitment to termination—and support workforce engagement. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Prepare job descriptions, advertise positions, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and manage the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Employee Relations: Act as the first point of contact for employee queries, resolve workplace conflicts, and manage disciplinary/grievance issues.
  • Administration & Records: Maintain accurate digital and physical employee files, including contracts, personal information, and attendance records.
  • Payroll and Benefits: Assist in payroll processing, benefits administration (insurance,, leaves, etc.), and compensation management.
  • Performance Management: Facilitate performance appraisal processes, assist with setting goals, and track performance improvement plans.
  • Compliance and Policies: Ensure all company policies adhere to local, state, and federal labor laws.
  • Training and Development: Organize staff training sessions, workshops, and development activities. 
     
Requirements and Skills
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience (usually 2-5 years) as an HR Officer, Coordinator, or in a similar generalist role.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of labor laws, HR functions (pay, benefits, hiring), and best practices.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), such as Workday or People HR.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal skills, discretion in handling confidential information, and organizational skills.
  • Certification: HR credentials (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, or CIPD) are often preferred. 
     
Typical Work Activities
  • Conducting new hire orientation.
  • Managing employee engagement initiatives and surveys.
  • Preparing HR reports (e.g., turnover rates, attendance).
  • Reviewing employment contracts
