Job Description:
A Senior Manager/Deputy General Manager (DGM) position within a steel company in India (e.g., Delhi/NCR, alloy plants) typically requires 12 to 18+ years of experience in metallurgy, process engineering, or plant operations, with a focus on leadership and quality management.
Key Responsibilities and Job Description:
- R&D and Product Development: Lead the development and industrialization of new steel grades, chemistries, and process routes (EAF melt practice, ladle metallurgy, secondary refining, casting parameters, rolling schedules).
- Process Optimization: Supervise plant trials, develop test protocols, and optimize process parameters to improve yield, reduce slag/metal losses, and minimize consumable/energy usage.
- Quality Management System (QMS): Own the QMS, including procedures, quality standards, in-process checks, final inspection strategies, and compliance with standards.
- Technical Leadership: Lead teams of metallurgists, lab engineers, and technicians; coach and upskill staff.
- Operational Coordination: Interface with operations, maintenance, procurement, and sales departments for customer development and technical trials.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, IATF, and statutory environmental and occupational health safety norms (HSE).
Key Requirements:
- Experience: 12–18+ years in alloy steel plant operations or R&D.
- Education: B.Tech/B.E. (Metallurgy or Mechanical preferred).
- Skills: Expertise in steelmaking, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with NABL accreditation, lab operations, and customer audits.
